Foley wins photo contest

First place in the People & Pets category went to Megan Foley of Imboden for a photo of her daughter, Chloe Foley, and their dog, Shiloh, playing on the slip and slide. The photo was also selected as the overall winner in The Times Dispatch's Summertime Photo Contest.

Megan Foley of Imboden was the overall winner in this year's Times Dispatch Summertime Photo Contest.

Judges for this year's competition were Ernie Rice, photo technician / photographer at Arkansas State University, and photojournalism students Ashley Helliwell and Tamitha Wynn.

There were a total of 263 entries in the contest, which were judged in 11 categories.

Foley's first-place photo in the People & Pets category was selected as the overall winner. Other winners in the category were: second place, Deedee Shaw of Walnut Ridge; third place, Patricia Warren of Portia.

Winners in other categories were as follows:

Wet & Wild - first place, Simone Leatherberry of Cabot; second place, Terry Riney of Paragould; third place, Lindy Baker of Walnut Ridge.

All Creatures - first place, Sandy Bristow of Vicksburg, Miss.; second place, Gwen Green of Little Rock; third place, Terry Riney of Paragould.

Travels - first place, Bobbie Vance of Powhatan; second place, Miranda Hudson of Walnut Ridge; third place, April Britt of Powhatan.

Summer Snacks - first place, Simone Leatherberry of Cabot; second place, Sandy Bristow of Vicksburg, Miss.; third place, Karen Williams of Hoxie.

Sand & Surf - first place, Miranda Hudson of Walnut Ridge; second place, Jennifer Biggers of Walnut Ridge; third place, Megan Foley of Imboden.

Expressions of Summer - first and second place, Jennifer Gill Faldon of Fort Smith; third place, Deedee Shaw of Walnut Ridge.

Scenes of Summer - first place, Terry Riney of Paragould; second place, Deedee Shaw of Walnut Ridge; third place, Jeff Schafer of Bay.
