Accident results in one fatalityA two-vehicle accident on Highway 412, between Walnut Ridge and Portia, Friday morning resulted in one death and two injuries, according to Cpl. Phillip Roark with the Arkansas State Police. Matthew Mullen, 28, of Portia died from injuries he sustained when the 2003 Toyota he was driving was struck head-on by a 1996 Dodge pickup, driven by Nathan Richey, 28, of Black Rock. According to the report, the Dodge was passing westbound traffic and hit the Toyota, which was eastbound. Richey and a passenger in his vehicle, Charles Meeks, 47, of Atkins, were both transported from the scene.
