DIABETES FAIR HELD ~ Carolyn Lane, dietary director for Lawrence Memorial Hospital and registered and licensed dietician, talks about proper portions and food types for diabetes prevention and control with Jackie Cox of Walnut Ridge during a breakout session at the Diabetes Awareness & Screening Fair, Tuesday. The event was hosted by Lawrence County Church Women United and the Lawrence Memorial Health Foundation and was held at First Baptist Church's Ministry and Activity Center. The event also included vendor booths, health screenings and a luncheon.

Downtown WR is a happening place

What might be considered a real estate boom is going on in downtown Walnut Ridge, thanks, at least in part, to excitement created over projects being planned in the area.

Hoxie approves plan for housing addition

At its July meeting, the Hoxie City Council agreed with the city's Planning and Zoning Committee to approve the final plan by David Onstead that will allow for the building of 11 homes in Hoxie near Kelly Drive.
