COX CHARITY RIDE ASSISTS SHELTER - J.R. Cox (right) of Cox Powersports visits with Robert Bryan Warden at the conclusion of Cox's third annual Charity Bike Ride to benefit The Children's Shelter in Walnut Ridge. The motorcycle ride began in Jonesboro and ended at Cox Powersports on the Hwy. 63 bypass in Hoxie. The top finishers and their cash prizes were: Sheriff Jody Dotson, first place, $300; Kevin Lee, second place, $200; and Warden, third place, $100. All three donated their winnings to The Children's Shelter, Cox said.

Crawford visits healthcare facilities

Cong. Rick Crawford was in Walnut Ridge Thursday for a visit to Lawrence Health Services.

He toured Lawrence Memorial Hospital and Lawrence Hall Nursing Center, followed by a meeting with the LHS Board of Directors.

Pay for Stay Ordinance approved for county jail

The Lawrence County Quorum Court approved two proposals that affect the justice system in the county at its meeting Monday night. The first is called the Pay for Stay ordinance, and the second regarded moving the district clerk's office to a new location.

WR Airport Commission
discusses grant, lighting

Walnut Ridge airport commissioners were given updates on an Airport Improvement Grant, MASLF lighting and estimates for improvements to the building occupied by Arkansas Turbine at their meeting on Monday night.

Water plant completion
slated for September

Work continues on the Northeast Arkansas Public Water Authority's water treatment plant being built on the Spring River, just below where the Spring and Eleven Point rivers join.

Visitors to Walnut Ridge will soon get to experience a genuine rockabilly guitar, and on a massive scale. Plans for the Guitar Walk to be built downtown have been updated to look the part of a genuine electric guitar, down to the finest details.
