Frankly speaking...A bronze statue has been erected in memory of the late Lolly (Ledbetter) Shaver, longtime director of the Cross County Library in Wynne. Lolly was born in Strawberry and spent most of her growing up years in Walnut Ridge. A dedication ceremony for the statue was held May 1 and was attended by a standing-room only crowd, according to the Wynne Progress. Lolly and her husband, Wesley Shaver, had lived in Wynne since the early 1970s, and she first became a volunteer at the library in 1975.
We know several families in the area have undergone hardships due to the flooding of late April and early May but hadn't considered the sacrifices some made in getting to their jobs.
