Cats win one, lose
one in tournament

The Marmaduke Greyhounds defeated Walnut Ridge 9-8 in the semifinals of the 2A-3 District Baseball Tournament on Saturday.

Walnut Ridge will host the 2A North Regional Tournament, scheduled to begin Friday at Black Rock. The Bobcats, the third seed from 2A-3, will play the second seed from the 2A-2 conference on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Walnut Ridge scored twice in the fifth inning to edge East Poinsett County 5-4 in the district tournament on Friday.

Eric Wilcoxson and Clay Hufstedler each had two hits and scored two runs for the Cats.

Zach Carson pitched the final three innings to earn the win in relief. He allowed only one hit, while registering five strikeouts.
