Cats win one, lose

Play was originally scheduled at Lawrence County School District's Black Rock campus, but was moved due to flooding.

The Marmaduke Greyhounds defeated Walnut Ridge 9-8 in the semifinals of the 2A-3 District Baseball Tournament on Saturday.
Walnut Ridge will host the 2A North Regional Tournament, scheduled to begin Friday at Black Rock. The Bobcats, the third seed from 2A-3, will play the second seed from the 2A-2 conference on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Walnut Ridge scored twice in the fifth inning to edge East Poinsett County 5-4 in the district tournament on Friday.
BR falls to ICCThe Izard County Cougars swept a baseball doubleheader from Black Rock last Thursday at Brockwell.
Hoxie falls at district tournamentThe Manila Lions shut out the Hoxie Mustangs 4-0 in the 3A-3 District Baseball Tournament Saturday at Harrisburg.
Bobcats earn district track titleWalnut Ridge High School is fielding a track team for the first time in over 20 years in 2011. The Bobcats made their return to competition a successful one with a strong showing at the 2A-3 senior high district track meet on Friday at Paragould.
