Lady Eagles beat BRNathan HibbardStaff Writer Hillcrest's Samantha Blevins recorded a school record 19 strikeouts and allowed only one hit in the Lady Screamin' Eagles 8-4 victory at Black Rock on April 19. Hillcrest scored one run in the first inning and one in the seventh. However, the Lady Screamin' Eagles pushed across six runs in the fourth inning on six hits and a walk. Lindsey Crews and Mackenzie Nunnally each went 2-for-4 at the plate, while Kellie Beasley and Samantha Parker each recorded two RBIs. On the mound, Blevins allowed a hit to Megan Jones on a close play in the seventh inning. The win made the Lady Screamin' Eagles 7-6 overall and 5-3 in the 2-A East conference. Hillcrest will be either the second or third seed in the upcoming district tournament, scheduled for May 2-3 at Lynn.
Pocahontas took advantage of four Hillcrest errors in the third inning en route to a 10-8 victory over the Lady Eagles on Thursday at Pocahontas. Kellie Beasley recorded three hits, and Ashley Mansfield added a two-RBI double in the fourth inning. Blevins took the loss; giving up only two earned runs on six hits, while walking four and striking out six. |
