Accident claims lifeA Smithville man was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Independence County on Friday at 1:39 p.m., according to a report from the Arkansas State Police.Killed in the accident was Clarence Olden Huckabee, 83, who was traveling eastbound on Query B Road in a 1989 Ford Crown Victoria, when he pulled into the path of a 1994 Chevrolet S-10 pickup. The truck was traveling south on Highway 167 and struck Huckabee's vehicle in the driver's side. J.C. Burks, 66, of Sulphur Rock, driver of the pickup, and three passengers in his vehicle were taken to White River Medical Center. The passengers were Joseph Farris, 23, of Batesville, Lisa Aaserude, 28, of Sulphur Rock and Mathew Aaserude, two, of Sulphur Rock. Funeral for Huckabee is today at 10 a.m. at Qualls Funeral Home in Cave City.
