Hillcrest blanks S-H, ICCNathan Hibbard
The Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles shut out Sloan-Hendrix 10-0 in 1A-2 East conference baseball action on Thursday at Strawberry.
Hillcrest managed just four hits in the game, but were able to capitalize on six Greyhound errors. The Eagles broke the game open with a seven-run third inning, keyed by Dylan Wooten's grand slam.
Tyler Parker had a double, while Billy Brannon and Zach Doyle had singles for Hillcrest.
Parker was the winning pitcher, allowing three hits and recording four strikeouts in the five-inning game.
The Eagles improved to 5-1 in conference play and 7-4 overall.
Hillcrest traveled to Brockwell and shut out conference foe Izard County Consolidated 14-0 on April 12.
The Eagles scored two runs in the first inning, five in the second, two in the third and five in the fourth inning.
The Hillcrest offense was led by Parker, who went 2-for-4, with three RBIs and scored a run, and Wooten, who batted 1-for-2, had three RBIs and scored three runs.
Cray Howard was 2-for-4 at the plate, with two RBIs and scored a pair of runs, and Clint Durham had two hits and scored three runs. Trevor Morgan drove in two runs and scored a run. Doyle had a hit and scored three times, and Brannon had an RBI.
Wooten pitched all five innings and allowed three hits, while striking out seven.
