Mustangs beat HarrisburgNathan HibbardStaff Writer The Hoxie Mustangs fell behind in the first inning, but came back strong to defeat conference opponent Harrisburg 13-3 in high school baseball action on Thursday at Hoxie. The Hornets opened with three runs in the top of the first inning, before Hoxie answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning. Tyler Clement singled home Hunter Flippo, who had walked and stolen second, for the Mustangs' first run. Hayden Defries followed with a single, scoring Clement. The Mustangs went on to add 11 unanswered runs to the scoreboard. Flippo was the winning pitcher, holding the Hornets to four hits.
The Manila Lions defeated Hoxie 14-4 in 3A-3 conference baseball action on Wednesday at Manila. Ryan Vaughn had two hits, and Zach Crisler reached base four times for the Mustangs.
