WR falls to Marked

The Marked Tree Indians handed Walnut Ridge their first two conference losses of the season in a double-header sweep of the Bobcats on Friday at Marked Tree.
The Indians won the opener 8-7 in eight innings before taking the second game 10-6.
In the first game, Walnut Ridge scored four runs in the second inning, keyed by a two-run double by Teague Phillips. The Bobcats added two runs in the top of the third to take a 6-0 lead before Marked Tree struck for six runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the contest at 6-6.
The Indians jumped in front 7-6 with a run in the fourth inning. Walnut Ridge tied the game 7-7 in the sixth inning on a hit by Tyler Dickson.
Lady Cats earn winBeth Massey was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and scored three runs as Walnut Ridge's Lady Bobcats posted a 21-5 win over conference foe Marked Tree in high school softball action on Thursday at Stewart Park.
S-H drops gamesThe Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds baseball team played two games of a triple-header hosted by Izard County Consolidated on Friday at Brockwell.
Mustangs lose gamesThe Rivercrest Colts defeated Hoxie 8-3 in high school baseball action on Friday at Hoxie.
WR, BR split softball gamesWalnut Ridge and Black Rock split a softball double-header on April 6 at Black Rock, with Walnut Ridge winning the opener 8-1, and the Lady Zebras taking the nightcap 11-2.
Hillcrest girls win one, lose oneCedar Ridge capitalized on three Hillcrest errors to jump out to an early lead en route to defeating the Lady Screamin' Eagles 10-1 in high school softball action on Friday at Newark.
