SPRING'S SPLENDOR ~ Mable (Mrs. Earl) Humble, who lives on West Poplar in Walnut Ridge, has had a yard filled with spring color as her many tulips, as well as a dogwood tree, have been in bloom in recent days. Mrs. Humble said she has been growing the tulips for several years and keeps adding to the display each year. Her brother, who farms in Mississippi County, shares a similar hobby, raising a large number of tulips and roses.

LCSD inmates begin work project

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Department began its County Work Project on Thursday. The program is intended to save the county money and cut the amount of time inmates are kept in the county jail.

Insurance costs up for county

The Lawrence County Quorum Court discussed an increase in its health insurance premium at Monday night's meeting.

Joint effort leads to arrests

Two Lawrence County residents were among 13 arrested in a three-county area as part of a roundup by the Third Judicial District Drug Task Force and local law enforcement agencies.

Equipment, lease topics
for airport commission

Walnut Ridge Regional Airport Commissioners discussed equipment, a farm lease, road repairs and modifications to the Arkansas Turbine building at their meeting on Monday night.
