Working together, promoting pride
of community

We applaud the efforts of Hoxie Mayor Lanny Tinker and Walnut Ridge Mayor Don House, who have signed the Twin-Cities Spring Cleanup proclamations. The April 11-23 event will be the first time the two towns have worked together on their annual spring cleanups. We hope many other joint ventures between our twin cities will follow.

Thanks to the group of approximately 50 volunteers who worked during a cleanup day at Stewart Park in Walnut Ridge on Saturday. The cleanup was held as part of the city's efforts to increase and promote volunteerism in the community.

To me, getting involved as a volunteer is one of the best ways to develop one's own community pride. I hope more of us will follow their example.
