S-H, BR face off in softball

The Sloan-Hendrix Lady Greyhounds defeated Black Rock 9-5 in high school softball action on April 1 at Black Rock.

The Lady Hounds raced to an 8-1 lead with two runs in the first inning, single runs in the second and third innings and four in the fourth. Black Rock got on the scoreboard with a run in the bottom of the third inning. A rally by the Lady Zebras in the bottom of the seventh fell short, as Sloan-Hendrix held on for the victory.

Paige Ratliff earned the win in the circle, allowing four hits and registering four strikeouts.

Michala Stacy, Maegan Austin, Brooke Pinkus and Ratliff each batted 2-for-4 for the Lady Greyhounds.

Megan Jones went 3-for-3 at the plate for Black Rock.
