Hoxie beats TuckermanNathan HibbardStaff Writer Thomas Kingsland blasted a three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Hoxie Mustangs to an 8-7 come-from-behind victory over Tuckerman in high school baseball action on Thursday at Hoxie. Tuckerman led 7-3 after six innings before the Mustangs' five-run rally in their final at-bat. Hayden Defries started the rally by reaching first base after striking out when the ball got past the Tuckerman catcher. Hunter Flippo singled, and Tyler Clements drove in Defries and Flippo with a two-run hit to bring the Mustangs to within 7-5. Jacob Defries then reached base on a walk to set the stage for Kingsland's blast. Zach Crisler started on the mound and earned the complete-game win. He allowed seven hits while registering 10 strikeouts. Hoxie improved to 6-3 overall with the win.
The Mustangs were leading the Rivercrest Colts 16-13 in the top of the sixth inning on March 29 when the game was stopped because of darkness. The game will be completed at a later date.
