VOLUNTEERS WORK AT WR PARK - Lawrence Health Services President Terry Lambert was among many volunteers who worked during a cleanup day at Stewart Park in Walnut Ridge on Saturday. The cleanup was held as part of the city's efforts to increase and promote volunteerism in the community. Approximately 50 people were a part of Saturday's efforts.

Mayors prepare for cleanup

The cities of Hoxie and Walnut Ridge will hold a twin-city cleanup April 11-23. Hoxie Mayor Lanny Tinker and Walnut Ridge Mayor Don House signed Twin-Cities Spring Cleanup proclamations at Walnut Ridge City Hall on March 31 announcing the event, the first time the two towns have ever worked together on their annual spring cleanups.

Hospital receives accreditation

Rosalind Casillas, director of nursing at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, informed the Lawrence Health Services Board of Directors at its March 28 meeting that the hospital, as well as Home Medical are fully accredited by The Joint Commission for the next three years.

Weight restriction remains on bridge

The weight restriction for large trucks crossing the Highway 63 Black River Bridge near Black Rock will remain in place pending the results of an independent consultant analysis, according to information released by the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department on Monday.

Community Healthcare hopes to expand center

Brigitte McDonald, executive director of Corning Area Healthcare, Inc. and the board of directors have received authorization to pursue a grant for federal assistance from the USDA Rural Development, Community Facility program.
