Circle of Friends continues efforts
Editor The Lawrence County Circle of Friends recently raised nearly $50,000 for Arkansas Children's Hospital with the annual Tips for Tots event, but the group is not showing any signs of slowing down. The next event on the local chapter's agenda is the second annual Princess Ball, a father/daughter dance to celebrate the bond between little girls and the special men in their lives. The ball will be held Saturday, April 9, from 6-9 p.m. at the Lawrence County Meeting Room, located at 115 West Walnut Street in Walnut Ridge. Refreshments will be served, and there will be dancing with music provided by Sound Xtreme DJ Service. Photographs will also be available by Life in Prints Photography. Tickets are $25 per couple plus $5 for each additional child. Tickets may be purchased at Celebrations in downtown Walnut Ridge, as well as at Craighead Electric. Individuals may also contact event chair, Angee Jones, at 870-679-0164 or any Circle of Friends member for more information or to reserve tickets.
The group also completed a Hoops in the Halls fund-raiser in local schools the week before Spring Break. Co-chairs for the effort were Erin Kennemer and Brooke Bramlett. Cardstock basketballs were sold for $1 each and were displayed on the walls in the school buildings. Hillcrest School raised the most money, bringing in a total of $1,379.45. Other totals were: Sloan-Hendrix, $653; Walnut Ridge, $349; Hoxie, $186; and Black Rock, $49.40. There was also $100 collected that was not designated to a specific school. In total, Hoops in the Halls raised $2,715.85. "This has been a fantastic year so far for our chapter," Chapter Chair Deana Householder said. "I appreciate each and everyone one of you who have worked so hard to make this year such a success!"
