Cats beat PocahontasNathan Hibbard
A three-run first inning propelled the Walnut Ridge Bobcats to a 6-3 victory over the Pocahontas Redskins in high school baseball action on Saturday at Stewart Park.
Chris Dickson had two hits and two RBIs for the Bobcats. Clay Hufstedler had two hits, and Cole Hicks added a two-run home run.
Zach Carson earned the pitching win, allowing three runs on five hits, with three strikeous and four walks in five and one-third innings of work. Tyler Dickson came on in relief and recorded the final four outs without allowing a hit.
The Bobcats improved to 4-2 on the season.
Tyler Dickson drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning to force in the winning run as the Bobcats edged 2A-3 conference opponent Rector 6-5 on March 7 at Stewart Park.
Offensively for Walnut Ridge, Range Weeks batted 2-for-4 and scored a pair of runs. Chris Dickson and Tyler Dickson each had two hits.
On the mound, Tyler Dickson allowed two runs on two hits in three and one-third innings of relief work to earn the win.
