Zebras are regional runners-up

Black Rock's Tadd Fore grabs a rebound during the finals of the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament in Brockwell on Saturday. Also in on the play were teammates Hunter Horton (#34) and Sam Clem (#15). The Zebras ended as runners-up, falling to Mammoth Spring 57-43.

The Black Rock senior high boys and girls basketball teams and the Hillcrest senior girls competed in the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament held at Brockwell last week.

BR-Mammoth Spring

The Mammoth Spring Bears defeated Black Rock 57-43 in the boys final on Saturday.

Mammoth Spring outscored the Zebras 23-12 in the fourth quarter to break open a tightly played contest. Black Rock led 12-7 after a quarter and 22-21 at halftime. The Bears moved into the lead during the third quarter and took a 34-31 advantage into the final period.

Lady Zebras to help fill out CRC roster

After six years without women's basketball, Crowley's Ridge College will again field a team. Two Lady Zebras, Megan Jones and Haley Slusser, have signed to be a part of the first team back on the hardwood.

Athletes from Hoxie High School competed in a weight meet Feb. 22 at Gosnell High School.

Hoxie teams compete at regionals

Hoxie's senior high basketball teams competed in the Class 3A Region 3 Tournament at Bergman last week. Both the Mustangs' and Lady Mustangs' seasons ended with first-round losses to teams from Valley Springs.

LawCo. girls help CRA
earn state tourney berth

Crowley's Ridge Academy earned its first-ever girls' state basketball tournament berth thanks to a 39-28 victory over conference rival Armorel on Friday night in the Class 1A regional tournament at Izard County Consolidated.

Two members of the Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats basketball team have been recognized by the 2A-3 Conference for their play during the 2010-2011 season.
