Grandparents' corner

Kady, Nadia and Piper Greer are the granddaughters of Mike and Donna Pinkston of Walnut Ridge.

Great-grandparents are Micky and Otis Gray of Hoxie and Patsy (Mrs. Robert) Hicks of Walnut Ridge.

They are the daughters of Jeff and Stephanie Pinkston Greer of Walnut Ridge.

Good news!

I join others in being excited and hopeful about good things and positive developments taking place in Lawrence County. I will attempt to mention several of them.

The potential of peanut farming in Lawrence County has gotten considerable attention in recent months. Walter Rice, a farmer from College Station, Tenn., successfully produced a peanut crop in the area last year. A retired consultant for a peanut company recently met with local farmers to discuss peanut production, and peanut shelling and processing companies have shown interest in the county's farmland for peanut production.
