The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles were runners-up in the 1A-2 North District Basketball Tournament held last week at Norfork. The Lady Eagles defeated Sloan-Hendrix and Viola, before falling to Calico Rock in the finals. The team will compete in the regional tournament at Brockwell on Thursday. The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles earned a pair of wins to advance to the finals of the 1A-2 North District Tournament at Norfork.

After defeating Sloan-Hendrix 68-33 in the first round on Feb. 14, Hillcrest faced the Viola Lady Longhorns in semifinal action on Thursday.

Samantha Blevins scored 16 points, as the Lady Eagles outlasted Viola 34-28 to advance to the championship game.

Viola was in control during the first half, leading 8-4 after one quarter and 13-10 at halftime. Hillcrest fought back to tie the game 24-24 at the end of the third quarter, then outscored the Lady Longhorns 10-4 in the final period to earn the victory.

Hillcrest faced Calico Rock in the finals on Saturday.

The Lady Pirates took control of the contest early, racing to a 32-10 halftime advantage and defeating the Lady Eagle 57-31.

Blevins led Hillcrest with 10 points.

The Lady Screamin' Eagles advanced to the 1A Region 2 Tournament at Brockwell. Hillcrest will face Crowley's Ridge Academy on Thursday night at 7.
