Lady Cats' season
ends at districts

Walnut Ridge's Daniel Vaughn scored with four seconds remaining to give the Lady Bobcats a 46-44 victory over Riverside in the 2A-3 District Basketball Tournament on Feb. 15 at Caraway.
Walnut Ridge trailed 11-9 at the end of the first quarter, but outscored the Lady Rebels 16-10 in the second period to move into a 25-21 halftime lead. The Lady Cats extended their advantage to 33-27 after three quarters and held off Riverside's fourth-quarter rally.
Ashley Baker led Walnut Ridge with 14 points and five assists, while Vaughn finished with 13 points. Katie Lewis had 10 rebounds for the Lady Bobcats.
Marmaduke
With the victory, Walnut Ridge advanced to face the Marmaduke Lady Greyhounds the following night. Marmaduke led 13-10 after one quarter, then went on a 20-1 run in the second period to take a 33-11 halftime lead en route to a 61-35 win over the Lady Cats.
Vaughn led the Lady Bobcats with 13 points.
