WR Council buys truckGloria WilkersonStaff Writer At a special meeting on Feb. 17, the Walnut Ridge City Council voted to purchase a 1997 International rescue truck for the city's fire department. Engine 2, an older truck in need of many repairs, was used as a trade-in on the newer truck. The rescue truck was purchased from Jon's Mid America Fire in Rogersville, Mo., and will be financed through First National Bank at four and one-fourth percent interest. The loan is for six months to one year. If the loan isn't repaid by then, the balance will rollover. Mayor Don House told the council that he would like to appoint former Lawrence County Clerk Billie Gail Dunlap to serve on the airport commission. The council voted unanimously in favor of her appointment, making Dunlap the first woman commissioner in the history of the commission.
