BR teams sweep HarrisburgNathan HibbardStaff Writer Black Rock's senior high basketball teams traveled to Harrisburg on Friday, with both teams bringing home a victory.
The Lady Zebras exploded to a big early lead and then withstood a fourth-quarter rally by the home team to defeat the Lady Hornets 52-50. Black Rock led 17-2 after one quarter, 26-13 at halftime and 43-31 at the end of the third quarter. Harrisburg outscored Black Rock 19-9 in the final period, but the comeback fell short as the Lady Zebras held on for the victory. Haley Slusser led Black Rock with 22 points. Sarah Penn scored 11 points, while Devin Pickett finished with eight points and 17 rebounds.
The Black Rock senior boys jumped out to a huge early lead and went on to rout the Hornets 61-22. Black Rock led 21-2 at the end of the first quarter, 35-13 at halftime and 55-18 after three quarters. Tyler Newell led the Zebras with 21 points, and Joe Paul Carey had 15.
