Hoxie teams post winsNathan HibbardStaff Writer Hoxie's Autumn Nelson and Leslee Parrish combined for 13 three-pointers to help the Lady Mustangs edge Corning 72-69 in overtime on Jan. 31 at Corning. Nelson finished with 21 points on seven treys, while Parrish connected on six bombs to finish with 18 points. Hoxie hit 15 three-pointers for the game. The fourth quarter began with Corning holding a 46-44 lead, but the Lady Mustangs took the lead late in the game. Corning's Whitney Woodard made a layup in the closing seconds to tie the game 61-61 at the end of regulation. Hoxie took a three-point lead in the extra period and held on, as the Lady Bobcats missed a final shot. Cayley Rosson scored 12 points and grabbed a dozen rebounds for the Lady Mustangs. Corning won a junior girls contest 42-24.
Hoxie's senior boys routed Harrisburg 83-30 on Jan. 31 at Hoxie. The Mustangs led 36-14 at halftime and 59-20 after three quarters. Jacob Defries led Hoxie with 17 points. Coy Yasler scored 15 points, and Brandon Davis hit four three-pointers to finish with 12 points.
