Zebras claim second

The Black Rock Zebras continued their stellar basketball season by claiming their second consecutive Lawrence County Tournament championship with a 58-47 victory over the Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles Saturday night at Walnut Ridge's Sharum Gymnasium.
The teams were tied 9-9 after a quarter and Black Rock led just 20-16 at halftime. The third quarter proved to be the difference, as the Zebras outscored Hillcrest 21-12 in the period and carried a 41-28 advantage into the fourth quarter. The Eagles played strong in the final period, but couldn't overtake the Zebras.
Joe Paul Carey and Tyler Newell each scored 14 points to lead Black Rock. Hunter Horton added 13 points, and Tadd Fore had 10. Khris Foster had five points, and Tyler Roby added two.
For Hillcrest, Zach Doyle and Dylan Wooten each registered 15 points. Trevor Morgan scored seven points, and Tyler Parker had three. Billy Brannon, Ethan Holder and Trenton Neeley each scored two points, and Hunter Nunnally added a free throw.
