WR girls split with Riverside

The Riverside Lady Rebels built a 35-15 halftime advantage en route to defeating Walnut Ridge 69-43 in senior girls basketball Thursday night at Walnut Ridge.

Ashley Baker led the Lady Cats with 11 points.

In junior girls action, Walnut Ridge outlasted Riverside to earn a 54-50 win in two overtimes.

The Riverside seventh-grade girls defeated Walnut Ridge 16-14.

Rector

Rector outscored Walnut Ridge 19-5 in the fourth quarter to defeat the Lady Bobcats 52-38 on Jan. 26.

The game was tied 33-33 after three quarters, before the Lady Cougars pulled away in the final period.

Daniel Vaughn led Walnut Ridge with 17 points.

Rector won a junior girls contest 55-36.

Maynard

The Lady Cats went on the road and defeated the Maynard Lady Tigers 67-59 on Jan. 24.

Maynard jumped out to a 24-16 lead after one quarter, before Walnut Ridge went on 25-10 run to move ahead 41-36 at halftime.

Baker led the Lady Bobcats with 23 points. Audrey McElrath had 13 points, and Vaughn added 11. Katie Lewis grabbed 15 rebounds.

Walnut Ridge won a junior girls game 66-34.
