S-H teams fall to ICC

Sloan-Hendrix hosted Izard County Consolidated in high school basketball action on Jan. 18. The visiting Cougars swept three contests from the Greyhounds.

The ICC senior boys defeated Sloan-Hendrix 70-44.

The Cougars led 19-12 after one quarter, 35-25 at halftime and 55-36 at the end of the third period.

For Sloan-Hendrix, Tyler Gillean had 15 points, and Daniel Rowsey added 11. Chase DeJournett scored six points. Tyler Booth and Zeb Gipson each had four points, while Zach Brown and Lucas Conrad had two points apiece.

In junior boys action, ICC topped the Greyhounds 29-20.

Keith Saylors led the junior Hounds with 11 points. Kyle Davis finished with four points, and Chase King had three. Brandon Stone added two points.

The ICC Lady Cougars edged Sloan-Hendrix 40-35 in a senior girls contest.

For Sloan-Hendrix, Shayla Dickson led with 16 points, while Kathryn Hall added nine.
