Peanut farmer rents
land from airport

The Walnut Ridge Airport Commission held a special meeting Monday morning to discuss renting 20 acres of farmland owned by the airport to Walter Rice of College Station, Tenn.

Rice raised 525 acres of peanuts last year on land adjacent to the airport property, and wishes to include the extra 20 acres in next year's crop. The location of the property will allow it to be farmed without interfering with the airport's safety zones.

The commission voted in favor of renting the land to Rice.
