Hoxie teams split with TuckermanNathan HibbardStaff Writer The Hoxie Lady Mustangs defeated Tuckerman 56-21 in senior girls basketball action on Jan. 11 at Hoxie. Hoxie led 14-4 at the end of the first quarter and 37-17 at halftime. The Lady Mustangs held Tuckerman scoreless in the third period while extending their lead to 45-17 heading into the fourth quarter. Cayley Rosson led Hoxie with 24 points. Neely Ragsdale finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds. With the win, the Lady Mustangs improved to 7-2 in 3A-3 conference play and 10-4 overall.
Tuckerman's Justin Watkins sank a free throw with eight seconds to play in overtime to give the Bulldogs an 80-79 victory over the Hoxie Mustangs in senior boys basketball Friday night at Tuckerman. Tuckerman led 16-12 at the end of the first quarter, 38-26 at halftime and 54-43 entering the fourth period. The Mustangs rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 25-14 to send the contest into overtime, tied 68-68. Coy Yasler led Hoxie with 28 points. Jacob Defries scored 18 points, while Hayden Defries had 11 and Hunter Flippo added 10.
