Zebras stampede Armorel
The Black Rock Zebras improved to 6-0 in 1A-3 East conference play with a 76-46 Senior Night rout of Armorel on Friday at Black Rock.
A closely played first quarter ended with the Zebras holding a slim 11-10 lead. Black Rock then took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Tigers 24-7 in the period to lead 35-17 at halftime. The Zebras continued to dominate after the break, taking a 56-31 advantage into the final quarter.
Sam Clem led Black Rock with 24 points, and Joe Paul Carey added 20. Hunter Horton scored 11 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Tyler Newell had six points and five rebounds, while Khris Foster added five points. Tadd Fore finished with four points.
The Zebras improved to 23-2 overall.
Black Rock's junior Zebras defeated Armorel 48-41 to move to 2-0 in conference play.
Caleb McKenzie led the junior Zebras with 17 points and nine rebounds. Matt Wilkins scored 12 points and had six rebounds. Shane Fleming added 10 points and pulled down four rebounds. Derrek Nunally scored six points, and Tim Andrews added three.
Black Rock defeated Weiner 67-33 in senior high action on Jan. 11 at Weiner.
The Zebras were never challenged, leading 26-10 after one quarter, 43-16 at halftime and 59-27 entering the final period.
Fore led Black Rock with 20 points. Horton scored 16 points, and Foster had 11.
