Lady Cats fall to EPC,
defeat Cross County

East Pointsett County defeated Walnut Ridge 60-34 in senior girls basketball Thursday night at Lepanto.

EPC led 19-9 at the end of the first quarter, 33-17 at halftime and 55-24 after three periods.

Daniel Vaughn had nine points to lead the Lady Cats.

Cross County

Ashley Baker scored 22 points, including five three-pointers, to lead the Lady Bobcats to a 69-34 rout over Cross County on Jan. 3 at Walnut Ridge.

Walnut Ridge ran out to a 19-4 lead in the first quarter. The Lady Cats extended the lead to 35-14 at halftime and led 48-29 after three quarters.

Vaughn added 16 points for Walnut Ridge, while Katie Lewis had 10.

Walnut Ridge won a junior girls game 50-13, and a seventh-grade girls game 34-8.

Senior boys

The Cross County Thunderbirds needed a second-half rally to slip past Walnut Ridge 62-54 in senior boys basketball action on Jan. 4 at Sharum Gymnasium.

The Bobcats led 14-12 at the end of the first quarter and 25-24 at halftime. Cross County came on in the third period to take a 39-34 advantage into the final quarter.

Eric Wilcoxson led the Bobcats with 17 points. Payton Poole scored 12 points, and Clay Hufstedler added 10 for Walnut Ridge.

The Walnut Ridge junior high boys defeated Cross County 52-31.
