SNOW DAY ~ Chaz (bottom) and Sydney Burgin enjoy a sled ride, while being pulled by their dad, Richie Burgin, on a four-wheeler Monday morning. They are the children of Richie and Leslie Burgin of Walnut Ridge. This first measurable snow of the season gave students a holiday from school.

JPs give funds for Chamber

At the suggestion of new County Judge Dale Freeman, the Quorum Court approved appropriating an additional $5,000 per year, bringing the total to $10,000, dedicated to the Chamber of Commerce in support of hiring a part-time individual qualified to work on economic development.

Airport employees to receive raise

Walnut Ridge Airport employees will receive a 50-cent-an-hour raise on their next paychecks. Airport manager Mitch Whitmire asked airport commissioners for a raise for airport personnel at Monday night's meeting, and they voted in favor of the salary increase. Whitmire's salary will stay the same.
