Tim and Teka Burgess of Pocahontas have announced the birth of a daughter on Dec. 7, 2010, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro. The baby weighted seven pounds, eight ounces, and has been named Lilly Beth Burgess.
She has a sister, Gabby, and three brothers, Brock, Dylan and Cody.
Grandparents are Don and Sharon Burgess of Pocahontas and Buddy and Glenda Cox of Paragould.
Katherine Holder and Dustin Prentice will exchange wedding vows at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, at Sedgwick Baptist Church.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Dennis and Judy Holder of Hoxie. She is a 2008 graduate of Hoxie High School and is a licensed practical nurse.
The prospective groom is the son of Randy Prentice of Wynne and Tanya Prentice of Southaven, Miss. He is a 2007 graduate of Wynne High School and is a lube technician.
All friends and relatives are invited to the wedding and the reception, which will follow immediately after the ceremony at the Hoxie Service Center.
James Roy Bratcher, 66, of Ash Flat, grandfather of Jonathan Baxter of Walnut Ridge, died Jan. 2, 2011, at his home. Graveside service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Agnos Cemetery under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service. Visitation is tonight from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Martha Dawson, 86, of Cutler Ridge, Fla., died Dec. 27, 2010.
Born Jan. 19, 1924, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Hosea and Pearl Penn. She had lived in Lynn most of her life, before moving to Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William David Dawson, and two brothers, William J. Penn and Stanley Richard Penn.
Survivors include a daughter, Anne Sullens and husband Jim; two brothers, Thomas Wilson Penn, St. Louis, and John E. Penn, Benton; a sister, Charlotte L. Penn-Rider, Cherokee Village; and two grandchildren, Scarlette Fogle and Tim Sullen.
The body was cremated.
Dearl Eugene Jones, 79, of Walnut Ridge, died Dec. 28, 2010, at his home.
Born Sept. 28, 1931, at Ponder Switch, he was the son of Fred and Willie Shelton Jones. He had lived in Lawrence County for most of his life and was a self-employed roofer. He attended the Faith Tabernacle Church in Hoxie.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nora Pauline Jones; a son, Dearl Eugene Jones Jr.; and a brother, Luther Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Jones; three daughters, Pat Augustine and husband Wayne, Walnut Ridge, Lisa Morris and husband Gary, Ravenden, and Pam Freer and husband Wayne, Paragould; a son, Fred Jones and wife Debbie, Jonesboro; two sisters, Betty Bateman, Paragould, and Karen Smith Summers, Memphis; a brother, Earl Jones, Poplar Bluff, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Friday at 10 a.m. at the Faith Tabernacle in Hoxie with Ted Shields officiating. Burial was in Lorado Cemetery, near Walcott, under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Keith Webb, Larry Jones, John Augustine, Josh Augustine, George Morris and Jake Morris. Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Jones, Steve McGowan and David Rush.

Wilma C. Pittman, 84, of Brooksville, Fla., died Nov. 24, 2010.
Born in Powhatan, she was a graduate of Black Rock High School. She has relatives from Lawrence County, including Wanda Harrell of Jonesboro and formerly of Walnut Ridge. She lived in Dearborn Heights, Mich., before moving to Brooksville 41 years ago. She retired after 25 years as a teacher's aide with the Hernando Public School System. She was a member of the Brooksville Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, James W. Pittman; two sons, James T. Pittman and wife Debbie, Orlando, Fla., and Mark W. Pittman and wife Irma, South Carolina; a daughter, Debbie Clifton and husband James, Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Opal Tambussi, Windsor Locks, Conn.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Velma Lorene Whited Rush, 104, of Walnut Ridge, died Jan. 3, 2011, at Lawrence Hall.
Born Aug. 10, 1906, in Ash Flat, she was the daughter of Jerry and Francis Gullett Whited. She worked at Family Shoe Store in Walnut Ridge for over 26 years and was a member of Main Street Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oren Rush; two sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Willene Childers, Walnut Ridge; a grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Higginbotham Funeral Service. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.
Visitation is today from 1 p.m. until time of the service.
Wanda Lee Stuart, 65, of Lynn, died Dec. 23, 2010, at her home.
A homemaker, she lived in Lynn most of her life and attended Oak Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son Franky Liles; her parents, Arthur and Minnie Collins Burrow; three brothers, Cecil Burrow, Bill Burrow and Junior Ashby; and two sisters, Bertha Tribble and Bessie Manning.
Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Stuart; a daughter, Marsha Richmond and husband John, Lynn; five sons, Bobby Burrow and wife Cheri, Steve Liles and wife Sophia and Lee Stuart and wife Amy, all of Lynn, Mitchell Stuart, Virginia, and Scotty Crumpton, Paragould; two sisters, Peggy Helton and Sandra Green; a brother, Estel Roy Burrow; 14 grandchildren, Jennifer Woolley, Rose Geoffrion, Cascandra Geoffrion, Angel Coats, Tabitha McKinney, Jessica Robinette, Shana Rainwater, Jonathan Richmond, Landon Crumpton, Hunter Burrow, Cody Powers, Nicole Smith, Makayla Stuart and Tomara Stuart; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Monday, Dec. 27, at 10 a.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home in Lynn with David Stuart officiating. Burial was in Old Lebanon Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Terrell Smith, Allen Williams, Buddy Pinegar, Jonathan Smith, David Stuart Jr. and Cody Powers.

Nancy Nadine Taylor, 55, of Powhatan, died Dec. 30, 2010, at her home.
Born May 14, 1955, in South Bend, Ind., she was a homemaker and a member of the Independent Christian Assembly Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Alexander Finney; her mother, Pearl Finney Wiles; and two brothers, Butch Finney and Richard Finney.
Survivors include her husband, Roger Dean Taylor, whom she married Aug. 8, 1976; two daughters, Crystal Allen and husband David, Powhatan, and Janey Lambert and husband Scott, Ash Flat; a son, Timothy Taylor, Paragould; four sisters, Carolyn Cowen, Mammoth Spring, Donna Allen, Ash Flat, Sandy Finney, Highland, and Sharon Fowler, Piedmont, Okla.; a brother, Jerry Finney, Tucson, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren, Maegan Allen, River Allen, Elijah Allen, Korey Allen, Camdyn Allen, Logan Allen, Hunter Lambert and Shelby Lambert.
Funeral was Saturday at 2 p.m. at the New Life Full Gospel Church at Black Rock with Bro. Ed Gregory officiating. Burial was in Powhatan Cemetery under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were David Taylor, Donnie Taylor, Terry Taylor, Cody Taylor, Dereik Taylor and Andrew Huttig. Honorary pallbearers were Heath Wade and Bob Hanshaw.
Hazel Marie Whitmire, 78, of Hoxie, died Jan. 4, 2011, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.
Born July 14, 1932, in Walnut Ridge, she was the daughter of J.L. and Mattie Manning Lamb. She was an LPN at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center and a member of the Free Street Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper J. Whitmire Jr., on Sept. 1, 1968, whom she married Aug. 26, 1952; a son, Alan Whitmire; two brothers, Cledith Lamb and Jack Lamb; and a sister, Ruth Whitmire.
Survivors include a son, Ralph Whitmire, Granite City, Ill.; two daughters, Karen Riggs and Amy Whitmire, both of Hoxie; a brother, Curtis Lamb, Walnut Ridge; six sisters, Grace Heard, Esther Floyd and Iva Atkinson, all of Walnut Ridge, Opal Christian, Rock Falls, Ill., Lee Whitmire, Lake City, and Evelyn Rutledge, Bay; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.
Visitation is Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
