Swearing in set for officialsElected officials for Lawrence County and the municipalities within the county will have the opportunity to be sworn into office on Friday at midnight as the new year begins. Among the new officials who will be taking office Jan. 1 are Dale Freeman, who will be serving as county judge, and Jody Dotson, who will be the new sheriff. Five municipalities will also have new mayors for the coming year. They include: Black Rock, Bonnie Ragsdale; College City, Paul Rhoads; Hoxie, Lanny Tinker; Strawberry, John Veer; and Walnut Ridge, Don House. In addition there will be several new justices of the peace on the Lawrence County Quorum Court, and several new aldermen throughout the county. District Judge Larry Hayes will swear in those present to their respective offices. All elected officials, both new and returning, are encouraged to attend.
