WR girls earn victories

Ashley Baker scored 28 points, including six three-pointers to lead the Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats to a 79-61 victory over Marked Tree Thursday night at Walnut Ridge.
Walnut Ridge trailed 22-16 at the end of the first quarter, before rallying to take a 35-33 lead into halftime. The Lady Bobcats scored 27 points in the final period to break the game open.
Also for Walnut Ridge, Daniel Vaughn had 17 points, and Katie Lewis had 12 rebounds.
The Walnut Ridge junior high girls routed Marked Tree 49-18, while the seventh-grade Lady Cats posted a 36-8 victory.
Riverside's Meagan Goza sank two free throws with six seconds remaining to lift the Lady Rebels to a 41-39 win over Walnut Ridge on Dec. 13 at Lake City.
Riverside led 16-15 at the end of the first period, 31-25 at halftime and 35-32 after three quarters.
Baker led the Lady Bobcats with 21 points.
In junior girls action, Anna Bland tossed in 21 points to lead Walnut Ridge to a 54-45 overtime victory.
The Walnut Ridge seventh-grade girls defeated Riverside 28-20.
