Lady Screamin' Eagles
earn victory over ICC
Two Hillcrest players recorded double-doubles as the Lady Screamin' Eagles defeated Izard County Consolidated 48-38 in senior girls basketball action Friday night at Lynn.
Mackenzie Nunnally had 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Samantha Blevins added 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Kellie Beasley also scored 10 points for Hillcrest.
The Lady Eagles improved to 5-1 in 1A-2 North conference play and 12-3 overall.
The Hillcrest senior boys fell behind early and never recovered, in falling to ICC 58-37.
ICC jumped out to a 20-5 lead after one quarter and led 38-15 at halftime.
Dylan Wooten led the Screamin' Eagles with 10 points. Trenton Neeley had six points, and Hunter Nunnally added five. Ethan Holder and Jeremiah Turner had
four points apiece. Billy Brannon and Trevor Morgan each scored three points, and Zach Doyle scored two points.
In junior boys action, Hillcrest used big second and third quarters to defeat ICC 50-41.
The junior Eagles trailed 10-8 after one period before outscoring the Cougars 11-3 in the second quarter to lead 19-13 at halftime. Hillcrest extended its lead to 34-23 after three quarters.
Colman Evans led Hillcrest with 24 points. Brad Nunnally scored seven points, while Evan Doyle and Cody Brannon had six points apiece.
