Hoxie boys split with TuckermanNathan Hibbard
A cold shooting night proved to be costly for the Hoxie Mustangs in a 79-72 loss to the Tuckerman Bulldogs in senior boys basketball on Nov. 30 at Hoxie.
Hoxie hit only five-of-23 field goal attempts in the first quarter, as the Bulldogs jumped out to an 18-13 lead. Tuckerman led 35-32 at halftime and 54-46 after three quarters. The Bulldogs hit 10-of-14 free throw attempts in the final period to hold off the Mustangs. Hoxie connected on only 35 percent of their shots (28-of-79) for the game.
Zach Crisler led Hoxie in scoring with 17 points, and Coy Yasler had 14 points. Jacob Defries and Devin Roberts each had 12 points, and Roberts also grabbed 15 rebounds.
The Hoxie junior high boys had no trouble finding the basket, hitting 10 three-pointers en route to a 59-21 victory over Tuckerman.
The junior Mustangs led 20-5 after one quarter, 33-11 at halftime and 48-15 at the end of the third period.
Slade Sullens led Hoxie with 22 points, including three three-pointers. Garrett Crisler had 15 points on five three-pointers, and Tristan Sisco hit a pair of threes for six points.
The junior Mustangs improved to 3-0 with the win.
