WINS FIRST PLACE ~ Phil Baiza of Hoxie serves as train conductor in the Polar Express Christmas float in the Hoxie Christmas Parade on Monday night. The float, which was entered by DVR Lawn Service of Delaplaine, won first place in the commercial division.

Powhatan facility to open soon

If all goes as planned, researchers will once again be able to access records for historical and genealogical research at the Powhatan Historic State Park.

EHC 50-year
members honored

A half-a-century ago, two young wives joined a club that changed their lives. This year Lillian Rooker and Daphine Starr celebrate 50 years as part of the Extension Homemakers of Lawrence County, which is part of the Cooperative Extension Service of the University of Arkansas.

Dickens in the
Park continues
to draw crowd

The Hoxie City Park was filled with holiday spirit on Saturday as local residents enjoyed a Victorian-Era setting during the Dickens in the Park event.

"I think it was a great opportunity for local people to come together and experience the season," said committee member Wanda Black.
