Lady Cats split with Marmaduke
Marmaduke's Lady Greyhounds defeated Walnut Ridge 61-30 in senior girls basketball action Thursday night at Marmaduke.
Marmaduke led 19-9 after one quarter, 34-18 at halftime and 50-21 at the end of the third period.
Ashley Baker led the Lady Bobcats with 10 points. Daniel Vaughn scored eight points, and Ashley Roacho had five. Amanda Emison and Audrey McElrath each had three points, while Holly Looney added two.
The Walnut Ridge junior high girls defeated Marmaduke 36-28 to run their record to 2-0 in 2A-3 conference play.
The Lady Cats led 11-8 at the end of the first quarter, 24-18 at halftime and 28-24 after three periods.
Anna Bland led Walnut Ridge with 14 points, while Allyson McQuay added nine. Caroline Kelley scored seven points, and Jodi Reithemeyer had six.
The Lady Bobcats opened conference play by hosting East Poinsett County on Nov. 15.
EPC jumped out to a 14-7 first-quarter lead, and led 38-24 at halftime en route to posting a 59-46 win over the Lady Cats.
Baker led Walnut Ridge with 15 points, and Ashlyn Cothern had nine. McElrath had seven points. Emison, Vaughn and Looney scored four points apiece. Katie Lewis had two points, and Roacho added a free throw.
In junior high action, Walnut Ridge routed EPC 51-21.
The junior Lady Bobcats led 16-7 after one period, 23-13 at halfime and 39-19 at the end of the third quarter.
Bland had 14 points to lead Walnut Ridge. Reithemeyer scored 10 points, and Kelley had seven. McQuay, Chloe Rice and Jordan Vaughn each had six points, and Sabrina Knight added two.
