BR boys beat BICNathan HibbardStaff Writer The Black Rock Zebras used a big third quarter to break open a close game and defeat Buffalo Island Central 62-47 in senior boys basketball Friday night at Leachville. The Zebras led 26-23 at halftime before outscoring BIC 15-5 in the third period to pull out to a 41-28 advantage. For Black Rock, Sam Clem and Tyler Newell each had 11 points. Joe Paul Carey and Tyler Roby scored 10 points apiece, while Hunter Horton added nine. The Zebras improved to 5-1 on the season.
The Hillcrest junior high boys defeated Black Rock 41-29 at Strawberry on Nov. 1. Caleb McKenzie led the junior Zebras with 19 points and six rebounds. Shane Fleming had four points and three rebounds. Matt Wilkins scored three points. Derrek Nunnally had two points, and Tim Andrews added a free throw.
