BR teams compete in ClassicNathan HibbardStaff Writer The Black Rock senior high boys and girls basketball teams competed in the Norfork Classic against Bruno-Pyatt on Oct. 19. The senior boys cruised to a 73-29 victory. Joe Paul Carey led the Zebras with 18 points, while Khris Foster scored 14 points. Hunter Horton finished with 12 points, and Tadd Fore added 11. Tyler Roby had nine points and eight rebounds. Sam Clem scored eight points, and Cody Clairday added one.
Haley Slusser had 20 points, and Megan Jones added 15 to lead the Lady Zebras to a 48-43 win over Bruno-Pyatt. Also for Black Rock, Kaylie Hammock had six points and 12 rebounds. Christian Ervin had five points, and Sarah Penn added two. Slusser, Jones and Ervin each grabbed eight rebounds. Devin Pickett had three rebounds, and Dalesha Johnson had two.
The Black Rock junior high boys dropped a 34-30 decision at Mammoth Spring on Oct. 18. Caleb McKenzie led the junior Zebras with 11 points. Shane Fleming had nine points and 12 rebounds. Tim Andrews and Matt Wilkins each scored four points, and Derrek Nunnally chipped in two points.
