Hoxie falls to Bald Knob
Bald Knob jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead and went on to defeat Hoxie 35-6 in 3A-3 conference football action Friday night at Bald Knob.
The Bulldogs' scores came on a five-yard pass with 9:30 to play in the opening quarter and a 27-yard pass late in the period.
Defense dominated the second quarter, as neither team was able to score and the Bulldogs took a 14-0 lead into halftime.
Bald Knob extended its lead to 21-0 on a 15-yard pass play with 6:07 to play in the third quarter.
Hoxie got on the scoreboard when Sebastian Irvin passed 17 yards to Hunter Flippo for a Mustang touchdown to cut Bald Knob's advantage to 21-6 with 3:29 remaining in the third period.
Bald Knob put the game away with two fourth-quarter scores. A 12-yard touchdown pass gave the Bulldogs a 28-6 lead with 9:19 to play, and a one-yard run with 5:20 to play set the final score.
Tyler Clement led Hoxie in rushing with 71 yards on 19 attempts. Irvin finished with 67 yards on 17 carries. Flippo carried four times for 40 yards, and Garrett Hart added seven yards on three carries.
Irvin was six-of-14 passing for 99 yards.
Cody Treadaway caught four passes for 51 yards. Tyler Hall had one reception for 31 yards, and Flippo had a 17-yard reception.
Hoxie will host unbeaten Rivercrest for Senior Night on Thursday. Game time is 7 p.m.
