Hillcrest enjoys homecoming winsOn Friday, Hillcrest celebrated its homecoming with a double win against the Weiner Cardinals.The Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles opened an 18-point lead in the first quarter and went on to defeat the Weiner Cardinals 61-47 in senior boys' basketball. The Eagles led 26-8 at the end of the opening quarter and pushed the lead to 38-15 at halftime. During the fourth quarter the team took a 48-30 advantage. Dylan Wooten led Hillcrest with 23 points, and Zach Doyle added 21 points including four three-pointers in the first half.
The Lady Eagles bested the Weiner Cardinals in a 53-34 game on Friday. The team trailed 18-15 at halftime before taking a 33-28 lead into the final period. Samantha Blevins lead the team with 26 points, and Mackenzie Nunnally and Lindsey Crews added 10 points each for Hillcrest.
Hillcrest opened its basketball season with an 85-67 win over Maynard on Tuesday. The Eagles enjoyed a 38-24 halftime advantage. Dylan Wooten and Trevor Morgan each earned 28 points. Morgan also added 11 rebounds.
The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles pulled out a last minute win on Tuesday night against Maynard. Hillcrest Lady Eagle McKenzie Nunnally brought home a 55-53 victory with a two pointer with 2.9 seconds left in the game. Maynard led 27-20 at halftime before Hillcrest used a 21-9 third quarter to build a five-point lead. Lindsey Crews led the offense with 26 points and Samantha Blevins added 13 points.
