Hoxie seeks bids
for chassis only
Leslie Ginn
Staff Writer
The Hoxie City Council held a special meeting on Oct. 19 to discuss the purchase of a new sanitation truck.
The council decided that need demanded immediate action, and instead of purchasing a new truck decided to advertise for bids on a replacement chassis only and use the existing packer/loader to save on costs. The tires will also be salvaged before selling the old truck.
The new truck is estimated at a cost of approximately $70,000. The city has been saving $1,000 each month in anticipation of replacing the truck and has over $63,000 in reserve to purchase a replacement.
Bids have been let for the replacement chassis and are due by noon on Monday. Bids will be opened at 5:30 p.m.
