White is new principal
at Hoxie High School

While newly hired Hoxie High School principal David White is not a Hoxie alum, joining the school's administration has been a homecoming of sorts for his family.

"My wife is a Hoxie graduate so it is an honor to be able to give something back to the school that educated the person who means the most in the world to me," White said.

"It is our hope to continue to see Hoxie school grow and improve over the years to come."

White received a bachelor's degree in English from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro in 2003, and earned his master's degree in educational leadership in 2009. He has also achieved his national board certification in English.

His teaching experience includes four years at Valley View High School where he taught 11th-grade American literature and 12th-grade advance placement British literature. He also taught ninth through 12th-grade English at Manila High School and served as the English Department head.

He is also a licensed Southern Baptist minister.

When asked about his qualifications for the position, White stated that he brings a strong knowledge of curriculum, and is committed to being fair and treating everyone equally.

"One of the biggest changes I would like to see an to improvement in our literature scores. Right now that's my biggest priority," said White.

"Our staff is dedicated to the success of every student and committed to the belief that every student is capable of learning if given the time and tools necessary to succeed."

White is the son of Robert and Nancy White of Manila and is married to the former April Crum, the daughter of Ernest and Vaudeen Allen of Minturn. White and April have one son, Connor, seven months.
