Bobcats outlast Marked
Tree for 35-32 win

Eric Wilcoxson's four-yard touchdown run on fourth-and-goal proved to be the difference, as the Walnut Ridge Bobcats outlasted Marked Tree 35-32 in an offensive shootout Friday night at Sexton Field.

Payton Poole put Walnut Ridge on the board first, with a 32-yard run in the first quarter. Richie Ward kicked the extra-point for a 7-0 Bobcat lead.

Marked Tree answered on their first possession, when Jagger McCrary passed 33 yards to Darius Ivy. Walnut Ridge stopped the two-point attempt to hang on to a 7-6 lead.

Teague Phillips extended the Bobcats' lead with a 16-yard scoring run with 2:05 to play in the opening period. Ward's PAT made the score 14-6.

The Indians' Thadious Moore broke free for a 65-yard touchdown scamper late in the period. McCrary then passed to Bryant Anderson for the conversion, tying the game 14-14 after one quarter of play.

Earle defeats Hoxie after close first half

The Earle Bulldogs scored on several big plays to break open a close game and hand the Hoxie Mustangs a 53-20 defeat in 3A-3 conference action Friday night at Crider Field.

Bobcat golf team advances to state

The Walnut Ridge High School golf team concluded the 2010 season with an eighth place finish at the Class 2A State Tournament on Oct. 4 at Horsehoe Bend.

Hoxie golfers qualify for state

The men's and women's golf teams at Hoxie High School recently completed the 2010 season. This year marked the first season Hoxie has competed in golf since 2006.

Wooten represents Hillcrest at state

Dylan Wooten represented Hillcrest High School in the Class 1A State Golf Tournament at Heber Springs on Oct. 6.

in 'Dig Pink' game

The Hoxie Lady Mustangs and the Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats met in 3A-Northeast Conference volleyball action on Oct. 5 at Walnut Ridge's Sharum Gymnasium. The "Dig Pink" game was also a fund-raiser for breast cancer research.

WR tennis team completes season

The Walnut Ridge High School tennis team participated in the 2A-3 District Tournament held at Allen Park recently.
