WRHS homecoming is FridayWalnut Ridge High School will mark its homecoming on Friday as they take on the Westside Warriors in high school football action.The homecoming court has been announced, and Ashley Baker, daughter of Darryl and Pam Baker of Walnut Ridge is the queen. Members of her court include maid of honor, Amanda Emison, daughter of Charles and Sonya Lee of Walnut Ridge and Mike and Debbie Emison of Smithville; senior maid, Whitney Ward, daughter of John and Betty Ward, of Walnut Ridge; junior maid, Anna Griffin, daughter of Justin and Melissa Griffin of Black Rock; sophomore maid, Ashlyn Cothern, daughter of Terry and Dawn Cothern of Hoxie; and freshman maid, Tristan Simpson, granddaughter of Bob and Mary Ann Cole of Walnut Ridge. Pages are Kai Rorex, son of Joe and Stacy Fisher of Walnut Ridge, and Baily Rorex, daughter of Jon and Bobbye Drew Rorex of Walnut Ridge. The theme is Friday Night Lights, and T-shirts are still available for $12 each, $14 for 2X and 3X. Students have been celebrating homecoming this week with spirit days. Monday was pajama day, and Tuesday was mix and match day. Today is favorite band/singer day. Thursday will be favorite sports team day, and Friday is homecoming T-shirt or orange day. A homecoming parade, sponsored by the Key Club, will begin at 1:35, and the pep rally will begin at 2:15. There will be other events for students throughout the day including a lawn party hosted by the Student Council. The homecoming royalty will be presented at 6:30 p.m., and kickoff will be at 7.
