Lady Mustangs win over
Piggott, Bay, lose to CRA

The Hoxie volleyball teams were busy last week, playing three matches against conference opponents.


The senior Lady Mustangs swept Piggott in three close games on Thursday 25-19, 25-21, 25-20.

Hoxie trailed 14-20 in the third game, but consistent serving from Kayla Ward, and a key block by Brianna Liscomb turned the momentum the Lady Mustangs' way, as they kept Piggott from scoring again.

Ward finished 12-of-13 serving, with five digs and three kills. Liscomb had 10 kills and a block. Alyssa Coggins had six digs, 10 kills and three blocks, while Sarah Manis had 10 digs. Kelsey Lewis had five digs and six kills. Amanda Whaley had 29 assists.

Piggott won the junior high match 26-24, 25-12.

For Hoxie, Grace Hall had three kills and a block, and Courtney Sears had two kills. Krista VanKirk was 12-of-12 serving, with two aces and four assists. Katie Lawson was six-of-six serving, and had one dig. Chasity Kingsland had a dig, and Zoe Wilfond had an assist.


The Hoxie senior high team defeated Bay in three games on Sept. 28. Scores of the games were 25-6, 25-9, 25-12.

Coggins was 18-of-18 from the service line, with four aces, four digs and three kills. Lewis was nine-of-nine serving, with two aces, three digs and five kills. Liscomb went nine-of-10 from the line, with two aces, two digs, five kills and a block. Maddison Woodard had four kills, and Manis had five digs. Whaley finished with 19 assists. Ward had a dig and two kills. Kelli Anglin was five-of-five serving, with two aces and a dig.

The junior Lady Mustangs also earned a win over Bay.

Sears was 12-of-13 from the service line, with six aces, two digs and four kills. Hall had two kills, and Maria Fry added one kill. VanKirk and Zoe Wilfond each had three assists. Lawson had a dig and a kill. Madalyn Barker was 14-of-15 from the line, with four aces, and Brooke Wilfond had a dig.


Crowley's Ridge Academy defeated the senior Lady Mustangs in a hard-fought five-game match on Sept. 27. Scores of the games were 25-20, 18-25, 20-25, 25-21, 8-15.

Coggins was nine-of-nine serving, with an ace, six digs, seven kills and a block. Devine Wilson had two digs and three kills. Manis had 13 digs and a kill. Lewis had 12 digs, 19 kills and two blocks. Liscomb had 14 kills. Woodard was 17-of-18 serving, with six aces, four digs, four kills and two blocks. Whaley finished with 42 assists. Ward had six digs and three kills.

In junior high action, CRA defeated Hoxie in three games 25-19, 17-25, 25-16.

Sears was nine-of-10 serving, with an ace, five kills and three digs. Zoe Wilfond and VanKirk each had five assists. Brooke Wilfond had two digs, and Hall had five kills.
